What to say when you hand it out

What to say

What they need before they start, three sentences you can say, what they will ask, and what happens after.

Before you start, they need

  • An email address they can check. It goes at the top of the resume, and it is the one thing Rung cannot finish without.
  • The city or area they live in, which helps Rung show the closest available pay information.
  • A job they want, or nothing at all. Somebody who cannot name one chooses their situation instead.

Three sentences you can say

  1. It is called Rung, and the address is rung.guru.
  2. It helps you choose the tasks, skills, and tools that fit what you know.
  3. It is free, there is no account, and it works on a phone or a computer.

What they will ask you

“I do not have any experience.”

Work or study from another country counts, and so does caring for family, school, volunteering, and recent training. Rung asks about those directly and builds the resume around them.

“I do not have a computer.”

It runs in a phone browser. There is nothing to install and no account to create, and the resume saves on their device.

“How much does it cost?”

Nothing, including at download. The PDF and editable Word file are both free, and Rung does not ask for a card.

What happens after you hand it over

  • Rung offers grounded choices based on the work and direction they select, and they can add their own.
  • It shapes confirmed choices into resume lines, flags wording worth checking, and suggests stronger details for them to approve.
  • They leave with a PDF and a Word file, and a cover letter if they want one. On a shared computer, remove the local draft before they leave unless the library clears browser data between sessions; clearing browser data removes the draft, not files already downloaded.

Rung is for people 16 and older, so a program serving under-16s should not hand it out. If something is hard to use, write to hello@rung.guru and a person will reply.
